R.I.P. Steve Jobs, 1955-2011. Why am I so sad about Jobs’ death? I think it’s because he represented, in a very tangible way, the promise that things can (and will!) keep getting better. At a time when it’s easy to feel pessimistic about America’s future, that was something to cling to. Now it’s diminished a little.
